Membership Nomination Process
At Royal Perth Yacht Club, we value the strength and camaraderie of our community, which is why our membership process includes a nomination requirement. To join RPYC, prospective members must be proposed by a current member of the club. This ensures that our new members share our values and contribute positively to the Club’s vibrant atmosphere.
- Nomination by a Current Member: If you’re interested in joining and have a connection to a current RPYC member, they can propose you for Membership. Your Proposer will guide you through the application process, and their endorsement will help introduce you to the Club’s culture and community.
- No Proposer? No Problem!: If you don’t know a current Member, you can still apply for membership. In this case, after submitting your application, your membership request will be reviewed by our Membership Chairperson. To ensure that RPYC is the right fit for you and that you’ll enjoy everything our Club has to offer, the Membership Chairman will invite you for a short phone interview. This informal call is a great opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to learn more about the Club, our activities, and the benefits of membership.
- Final Approval: Following the interview, your application will be put to the general Committee for approval by secret Ballot. Once approved, you’ll be welcomed as a member of RPYC, ready to enjoy all the privileges and opportunities our Club provides.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT CONTRIBUTION/LEVY
In accordance with the Club’s Constitution 2025, Clause 33(1), the following Levy was approved at the 28th August 2025 AGM...
That a Capital Improvement Contribution be imposed on each Full Member of $20.80 per calendar month for 12 calendar months beginning on 1st September 2025, ending 31st August 2026. All other Member category contributions will be adjusted in accordance with subscription fees as set I the Club’s By-Laws, Section 8, Clause 8.2.3, Clause 8.2.4 and Clause 8.2.5.
HOUSE SUPPORT SCHEME (HSS)
In simple terms, this is a levy charged by the Club to all Full Members 24 years and older, and in the Social and Centreboard Member categories. This levy helps to ensure that you come down and enjoy the fantastic facilities on offer.
How does it work?
The levy is broken down into two equal instalments of $197.50. Each instalment will be charged at the beginning of each period. (1st June and the 30th November) one every six months.
This charge will be placed on the accounts of Members in each “Full”, “Full/30”, “Full/29”, “Full Family”, “Social” and “Social Family” category.
The levy for Full Members between 24 and 27 and Centreboard Members shall be equal to 50% of a Full Members HSS.
What do I need to do to get the most value from the levy?
Simply come down to the Club, purchase food or beverage, come to a Club social event, or deck yourself out in Club merchandise. Make sure this purchase is charged to your membership account.
In essence, it acts as a pre-paid credit. Each time you dine or entertain at the Club, the amount is deducted from your levy balance. Once you have used the full levy amount, it will show as fully credited on your account. Please note that any unused portion of the levy at the end of the six-month period is neither refundable nor transferable, so we encourage you to make the most of the Club’s facilities to enjoy the full benefit.
Please note that if you have not spent the full amount of your House Support Levy within the period, the Club will invest the remainder into furthering the Club objectives.
Example
If your levy is $197.50 for the six-month period and you spend $120 dining at the Club, your levy balance will reduce to $77.50. Later, if you spend another $77.50, you will have used your levy in full, and this will be credited against your account. If, however, you only spent $150 during the six months, the remaining $47.50 would be invested into the Club and cannot be refunded or transferred.
